Dr.Srinivas R Ramachandra MD
Dr. Srinivas R. Ramachandra is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, AAPIO
He is a vascular surgeon in Danville, California and is affiliated with John Muir Health-Walnut Creek Medical Center. He received his medical degree from Bangalore Medical College and has been in practice for more than 20 years.
Dr.Archana Bindra MD Vice Chair BOT
Dr. Archana Bindra is an endocrinologist with more than 10 years of experience. She works @ Elcamino Health and specializes in uncontrolled diabetes, insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitoring, gestational diabetes, thyroid disorders, thyroid cancer, and pituitary and adrenal disorders.
She was the President of AAPIO from 2019-2020.
Dr. Annu Navani MD
Dr. Navani completed her Anesthesiology residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and a fellowship in Pain Management from the University of California, Davis. Thereafter, she joined as a faculty at the Department of Anesthesiology at Stanford University School of Medicine. At Stanford, she served as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Pain Medicine, where she provided care to acute, chronic and cancer pain patients. While at Stanford, Dr. Navani initiated and developed a Spine Care program in collaboration with the Department of Neurosurgery. This program manages spine patients in a structured medical setting with cutting-edge pharmacological and interventional technology. She is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management by American Board of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Navani is actively involved with several Pain and Medical societies, including the American Society of Anesthesiology, American Academy of Pain Medicine, American Pain Society, International Spine Intervention Society and International Association for the Study of Pain. She currently serves as the member of the board of directors at the California Society of Industrial Medicine and Surgery, a delegate to Califonia Medical Association EMOS and also as the member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Cancer Pain. She is a founding member of California Consortium to Promote Stay at Work/Return to Work as well as the immediate Past President of The American Association of Physicians of Indian origin. She has authored several publications and has been an invited speaker at many regional and national Pain meetings. Dr. Navani was awarded the 2001 "Honorable Mention Award" from The New York State Society of Anesthesiologists for her work with use and development of ultrasound technology for interventional procedures. She is currently involved in monthly medical educational programs that focus on awareness of physicians, allied medical professionals and community towards common pain and health related problems.
Dr.Ranjana Sharma MD
Dr. Ranjana Sharma is a Family Physician and Chief Medical Officer of Washington Township Medical Group in Fremont. She has served as the Chief of Medical Staff at Washington Hospital, Fremont, California. Dr. Sharma has served twice the President of AAPIO, in 1997-98 and again in 2001-02.
Dr. Sharma also has served as Medical Director of the Physician Assistant program and Assistant Clinical Professor at Department of Family and Community Medicine at Stanford and is involved in many community activities.
Akhil Wadhera MD
Dr. Akhil Wadhera was born and raised in New Delhi, India where he pursued a degree in Civil Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering. Upon immigrating to United States, he attended UC Berkeley to obtain his Master's degree in Environmental Engineering. After working in US and internationally as a Consulting Engineer, he saw the light and switched to a career in medicine. He attended UC Davis Medical School and completed his residency in Dermatology at the UC Davis Medical Center in 2005 with a fellowship in Lasers and Cosmetic Dermatology with Dr. Suzanne Kilmer in Sacramento. He joined Kaiser Permanente’s Fremont office in 2005 where he has worked to develop and operate a “Center of Excellence” for Lasers in Dermatology at GSAA. The laser center provides medically indicated laser services for our patients across Northern California using many different lasers.
He served as the President of AAPIO in the year 2012-2013. He has also held multiple leadership positions at Kaiser Permanente Chief of the Department of Dermatology at Fremont, Union City, Hayward and San Leandro, Elected Board of Director to the TPMG Board, and APIC for Medical Subspecialties. He is currently the Chair of the Cancer Committee for the Commission on Cancer Accreditation at Fremont, Union City, Hayward and San Leandro and the Regional Director for Laser Services for KP Northern California.
Dr.Amara Balakrishnan MD
Dr. Balakrishnan is a Pediatrician and graduated from the Kilpauk Medical College in 1973.
She works in San Jose, CA and specializes in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics and Pediatrics. Dr. Balakrishnan is affiliated with O'Connor Hospital and Regional Medical Center Of San Jose.
Nandini Bakshi MD, FAAN
Dr.Bakshi is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. In addition to general neurology, she has a special interest in electrodiagnostics.
She works as a neurohospitalist part time. She is involved in research projects with the Division of Research at Kaiser and UC Berkeley
She has an interest in Global Health and has taught neurology internationally in many different countries over the years. She has been with Kaiser Permanente since 1996.
