Deepa Rathi, MD
President, AAPIO
Dr. Rathi is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician who currently practices as a hospitalist. With a strong focus on evidence-based care and interdisciplinary collaboration, Dr. Rathi is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered care in the inpatient setting. Her clinical expertise spans the full spectrum of internal medicine, and she is known for her compassionate approach and commitment to excellence in hospital medicine.
Rinku Shrivastava, MD
President Elect, AAPIO
Dr Rinku Shrivastava is a Board Certified Private Practitioner with two medical offices located in Castro Valley and Pleasanton. She graduated from UCSF- Family Medicine Program (Fresno) in 2010. She completed MBBS from GRMC, India in 2000. And is a faculty at MSPA Program, Stanford University. Coming from a family of doctors with six physicians & surgeons in her own family, she has always been passionate about medicine since her childhood. She has been deeply involved in the community service at her local city of residence and has sponsored, actively participating and volunteering in multiple different events at school, and organizations. She has been recognized and awarded for her services by local Indian and city council. She is one of the founders for a local Physician group of “desi” female physicians NorCalMD Sahelis group with over 400 physicians. She looks forward to serving AAPIO with all her heart, mind and soul!
Rasik Kansara, MD
Treasurer, AAPIO
Dr. Kansara is a board-certified Gastroenterologist who retired from clinical practice in 2024. He has practiced medicine in California since 1984. After completing his fellowship in Gastroenterology, he moved to Lake County, where he served as the sole Gastroenterology provider for six years. He subsequently continued his practice in Santa Clara County.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kansara has provided leadership in various hospital positions and has been actively involved in professional and community organizations. He has been a life member of AAPIO since 1990 and has served on its Board of Trustees, as well as on several committees.
Dr. Kansara is married and has three grown children. He is dedicated to the continued growth and success of AAPIO and is committed to taking the organization to the next level. Outside of his professional activities, he enjoys traveling, reading, karaoke, and hiking.
Daksha Barot, MD
Sr. Member at Large, AAPIO
Dr. Daksha Barot has practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology at Kaiser Permanente, Northern California since September 2005. She is a member of the Northern California Chapter of AAPIO, where she currently chairs the Membership Committee and serves as an integral member of the Executive Committee.

Sneha Patel, MD

Sneha Patel, MD – Candidate for Member-at-Large (Junior)
Born and raised in Gujarat, Sneha moved to the U.S. in 1997. She completed her medical residency at the University of Southern California (USC) and currently works as a Hospitalist (HBS) at Kaiser Permanente.
Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling, hiking, dancing, and lighthearted singing.
A dedicated Life Member of AAPIO for the past 10 years, Sneha is eager to continue learning and contributing to this amazing organization.
Priya Gomathi Kumaravelu MD

Priya Gomathi Kumaravelu, MD
Dr. Priya Kumaravelu, MD, is a compassionate and forward-thinking Hematologist and Oncologist, recognized for her unwavering commitment to patient care, medical education, and community leadership.
She earned her medical degree from Ramachandra Medical College in Chennai, India, and completed her Hematology-Oncology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. Since establishing her private practice in San Jose in 2016, Dr. Kumaravelu has become a respected figure in the regional medical community.
She currently serves as President of the Medical Leadership Council at Regional Medical Center, part of Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC), and is a former Board of Trustees member during its tenure under HCA. In recognition of her outstanding service, she was awarded the Benjamin J. Cory, MD Award by the Santa Clara County Medical Association (SCCMA) on January 10, 2025, an honor given to physicians who demonstrate visionary leadership and professional excellence beyond the clinical setting.
Dr. Kumaravelu is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine (appointed April 2025) and serves on the Board of the South Bay American Medical Women’s Association (SB-AMWA). She is the founder of Agnya, a support group for survivors of domestic violence, underscoring her commitment to advocacy and women’s health.
Beyond medicine, Dr. Kumaravelu is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer, passionate gardener, avid foodie, and is now exploring her newfound interest in painting. She is fluent in Tamil and brings cultural sensitivity and warmth to every aspect of her work.
